another friend of mine made a heartfelt blog about me. guess, ill have to make one for him too. haha.
super tudew-tudew na pd ni, art!
how do you know if you miss someone? for me, it's when you are having all that fun and you just wished that someone was there with you.
up until this time, me and this famously named 'artemio mantos masbate iii' still don't know exactly how we became friends and how we ended up being two best buddies last semester. if i can still recall, i didn't even give a damn about him way back then. so, befriending him was totally out of the picture. what, with his sudden mood swings and tantrums? i don't think anyone would want to be friends with that kind of person. harsh, but true enough. but then again, fate - i just love blaming it on fate - intervened. and the rest was history, as others would say it.
i first noticed him when we had our soep last may 2006 in usc-tc. it was an enhancement program offered by the dost - yes, we are scholars - for fresh graduates in preparation for our freshmen year in college. for one month, we were classmates and so with the other fellow scholars. during that time, it was just me and my schoolmates in high school that mattered. i mean, i don't care about the other scholars that much. so i guess, this artemio would not be an exception.
and then, here came college. we became classmates again. the only change here, i guess, is that we now talk. you know, the usual classmate-to-classmate talk. he would then laugh at my jokes, but really, who doesn't? haha. vain guy! time passed by until there came a
time when the first hint of friendship surfaced above the water.
it was march 2008. i can still remember the departmental exam on physics which was so damn difficult. after the suicidal exam, i gave him this 'underworld: evolution' dvd together with 'charlotte's web' for joshua, another friend of mine. i don't know exactly why i gave him that. fishy, huh? he just said that he asked for that thing for his birthday. now, who am i to deny such a little request?
two months after that, the next semester came. it was this time that our friendship soared above the skies. he started sharing his life to me - his dark past, his struggle about his attitude, and all those that he cant normally share to anyone. then, we've shared the same books, listened to different songs, and watched cool movies. now this, i believe, just made our friendship stronger than ever.
so what makes art worthy to be called as a bestfrriend? i think it is because he is a real friend. not just some fake one who pretends to be listening, but doesn't even act at all. he may have his sudden flare-ups - and i cant blame him for that - but deep inside, i know it's not his intention to burst such aggression publicly. he may have slapped me in front of many people many times, but better that than being stabbed at my back. he may have cursed you in the face, but better that than being talked behind your back. art is really a unique friend. behind those piercing looks and those intimidating mood swings, there lies a friend waiting to be called and always ready to reach out and help.
me and art may not know exactly how we became friends. but we are glad as hell that our paths have crossed. a million thanks to you, art. tim. tet. commissioner. or should i say, bestfriend. :D
